The storm came in and we got 1.3”…a nice steady rain!![]()

For those following along yesterday, we got 3/4 of the alfalfa out of the field and covered. The rain was not good for the bales that were left, but so good for our mountains and meadows. There are often trade offs.![]()

We already have a little tinge of green from the September storms and the grass will certainly be growing this weekend when we are back up in the high 60s.![]()

There’s no need for Vegas, we gamble plenty here on the ranch. This final cutting of alfalfa has been just that. Clint & Jason have been monitoring the weather trying to catch the best window to get it out of the field before it freezes and without getting rained on once it’s cut. They got one field cut and baled now they are racing to get it hauled out of the field before the storm comes in tonight. At 9 p.m. they had 8 more loads to go. 🙏 ![]()

We dropped below freezing last night and there’s a storm coming in tonight. We have our last cutting of alfalfa on the ground, so it’s not ideal, but when you pray for rain all year you can’t curse it when it comes.
